What’s a great event without a little competition?!

This is why every year we roll out the most-sought-after award by all empanada makers in Australia… THE GOLDEN EMPANADA TROPHY.

We have two awards. The PROFESSIONAL (judged by some of Melbourne’s food luminaries) and the PEOPLE’S CHOICE. Both awards are hotly contested on the day.

THE ARGENTINIAN DELEGATION

There’s nobody better placed to present the winners with THE GOLDEN EMPANADA trophy than Argentinian Ambassador Hugo Gobbi and Minister Eduardo Acevedo Diaz. Hold on to your Malbecs, he joins us in Melbourne every year.
